Trios and bowls, made to order
Every basalt column fountain at the yard is custom made to order, so the first step is choosing a shape. The yard lists three: the Small Basalt Trio, the Large 3' 1.5' With Bowl, and the Large Trio 4' 3.5' 3'.
The trio is the one most people picture, three columns of different heights standing together. The bowl version pairs the columns with a carved stone basin, so the water has somewhere to land and the fountain reads as one piece.
Because each fountain is made for the order, ask at the yard how long a build takes before you plan a patio or bed around a date.

What sits under a basalt fountain
A fountain looks like columns, but most of the work is out of sight. Typically there is a basin or reservoir below grade to catch the water, a pump to lift it back up, and a liner so the water does not soak into the soil.
That is why the yard stocks pond liner alongside the columns. Which liner size and pump suit a given fountain depends on the build, so describe your layout at the counter and let them point you to the right pieces.
Most people set the reservoir first and the stone last, since the columns are heavy and awkward to move once they are in place.
Chapter 03
Lighting and where to put it
Basalt takes light well. The yard's own photos show two columns uplit at night, and the dark stone turns into a clear shape against the garden.
Placement is worth a walk around before you order. A spot you can see from the kitchen window or the patio chairs usually earns more use than one at the back fence, and a bed of rock around the base keeps splash off the lawn.
Lighting is on the yard's list next to the liner, so you can price the whole feature in one visit.

Pond liner and lighting for the finish
The yard carries pond liner and lighting for its basalt fountains, so the parts that hold the water and the parts that show it off come from the same place.
If you are not sure what a fountain needs underneath, bring a sketch or a photo of the spot. Sizing a liner to a reservoir is easier with the layout in front of you, and the staff will tell you what they stock for it.
